Why does profit look too high?
Inspect the product’s Profit tab for missing or incorrect unit and additional costs. Check whether the store uses gross or contribution margin. Gross margin excludes selling costs; contribution margin includes them. Missing expenses can overstate profit.
Why did saving a library cost not change my product?
In Profit & Costs → Cost library, Save cost saves an additional cost to the library. On the saved item, use Apply to listings, select the products and review the confirmation. Saving and applying are separate steps. Open a listing’s Profit breakdown afterwards to check that the intended cost is present.
What is a percentage cost based on?
Percentage costs use the selling price. For example, 5% of £20 is £1 per item. Check whether the expense should be a fixed amount or percentage, and whether it is a product cost or selling cost.
Why is a profitable product below target?
Positive profit and meeting a target are different. A product can make a profit while its margin remains below the assigned target. Check the target percentage and its source before changing costs or price.
Why can a product have missing profit information?
A usable assessment requires the relevant price, costs and target data. For variant products, incomplete information for some variants can limit the listing assessment. Read the missing-data explanation rather than treating it as zero profit.
Can a unit-cost edit affect WooCommerce?
It can when two-way unit-cost syncing is enabled for a supported WooCommerce store. Open Profit & Costs → Store settings, check the correct store and read Sync unit costs with marketplace before editing. With sync enabled, linked unit costs can update in both directions. An individually unlinked listing keeps its own cost. Additional costs in the library are managed separately.
Where can I check whether a listing meets its target?
Open Profit & Costs → Margin targets and use View listings on the relevant target card. Filter by Margin status to find listings Below target, Selling at a loss or needing more data. Open a result’s Profit tab to inspect its costs and active target source. A high overall Profit score can hide a weaker variant; check the affected variant’s margin directly.
Is this profit from my past sales?
The margin-target performance view compares current prices and recorded costs with the assigned targets. It does not include sales history or confirm that every business expense has been recorded. Use your business records when reviewing profit from past sales.
Can I use the same unit cost for all product variants?
Where Apply to all variants is available in the listing’s cost editor, you can review and apply one unit cost across its editable variants. This can override different existing unit costs. Other variants’ additional cost lines are preserved. Check the scope and marketplace sync setting before confirming. If only some variants save, use the offered retry for failures rather than repeating the whole update.
